Julia Hagen (Salzburg 1995) was first taught by Detlef Mielke in Salzburg at the age of 5. From 2007 until 2011 she studied at the Mozarteum University with Enrico Bronzi, afterwards continuing her studies in Vienna where she had lessons with Reinhard Latzko. In the autumn of 2013 she was accepted into the class of Heinrich Schiff. Since 2015 she is studying in Berlin with Prof.J.P.Maintz.

She is currently one of the 6 students that were selected to be part of Gautier Capucon's „Classe d'Excellence de Violoncelle", which was made possible by the Fondation Louis Vuitton.

As well as winning several first prizes in the Prima La Musica competition, both in the chamber music and the solo category, Julia has also won the International Cello Competition 2010 in Liezen, Austria. In the summer of 2014 she won de ESTA special prize in the International Brahms Competition.

She was invited by the Kronberg Academy to take part in the chamber music project MMM, and also participated in the chamber music project of the Wiener Philharmoniker in Salzburg. Julia took also part at the "Seiji Ozawa international Academy".  

She has performed as a soloist with the Wiener Jeunesse Orchester and the Orchestra della Valle d'Aosta.

Julia has enjoyed many chamber music experiences with musicians amongst whom Ib Hausmann, Matthias Schorn, Markus Schirmer Lukas Hagen and performed in festivals such as the Beethoven Fest, the Allegro Vivo Fesitval, the Diabelli Summer and the Piatti festival and the Musiktage Mondsee. 

She has taken part in master classes with G.Gnoochi and C. Bohorquez. 
Julia is playing on a Francesco Ruggieri violoncello, which is made possible by a private sponsor.
