This educational program, which is a 12 year continuous program, offers for the next edition a program of  master classes so that  exceeding students and music professors, selected by means of the  national public announcement, they can interchange knowledge with artists invited to the festival.

During an intense week of training , 51 young musicians, one string quartet and five music instructors of diverse training levels will have the opportunity to strengthen their performance. There will also be, in addition spaces of humanities training and also to reinforce musical exercises with basic elements of Luthiery.

As part of the initiative linked to training and artistic development of children and teenagers, within the 12th edition of the Festival we have the special participation of the Orquesta Sinfónica Infantil y  Juvenil Notas de Paz, in concert.





Ana María Ruge:

Colombian Soprano, master in “Mannes School of Music”, thanks to the Banco de la República de Colombia scholarship. In 2016 she was selected as a scholar in the city of Los  Ángeles to be part of the AVA

 “(Angels Vocal Art)” like an “Emerging artist” where they interpret the part of Elena en Anya 17 of Adam Gorb and participates in the Gala Verdi under the director Kristof Van Grysperre. In 2017 she debuted in the Fundación Jaime Manzur singing in the role of Adriana in “Los Gavilanes” and Antología de la Zarzuela.

Andrés Ramírez Villarraga:

Clarinetist that graduated from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia with the Master Robert De Gennaro and of the Conservatorio de la Svizzera Italiana (Switzerland) with the Master François Benda.

He is presently studying for his Doctorate in Educational Science of RUDECOLOMBIA, Clarinet profesor in the Universidad del Cauca; Yamaha artist  for Clarinet and Artist Cañas Gonzales (Argentina)


Arnold Adrian Carvajal Martinez:

Licensed in Música from  la Universidad de Nariño, Mg. in Music at the Universidad International de Valencia.

Composer, Clarinetist, teacher and investigator, process advisor in Musical training in the Department of Nariño.

Presently is a teacher at the Universidad de Nariño.



Felipe Gallon:

He studied in the Universidad del Valle under the direction of Evgueni Sapojnikov and Dimitri Petoukhov.

Member of the Filarmónica Joven de Colombia 2011-2013, has received master classes with the Cuarteto Latinoamérico, Arnaud Sussmann, Ruggiero Allifrancini and Elina Vahala among others.

Presently he is a violín teacher at the Conservatorio Adolfo Mejía in Cartagena and the first violinist of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Bolívar.

Halmar Múnera Llano

Clarinetist graduated with a masters in  Music  from the University of Eafit, he studied his undergraduate at the Universidad de Antiquity, Beneficiary of the scholarship for Artistas Colombiano Carolina Oramas Icetex 2004, to start studies in perfectioning the Clarinet in the Conservatorio del Liceu de Barcelona, España.

He graduated as a chair teacher at the Universidad de Antioquia, Fundación Universitaria Bellas Artes, Universidad Eafit de Medellín and diverse training programs of the city and region as a red de escuelas de Música de Medellín , Batuta Antioquia, Academia Filarmónica de Medellín.

Humberto Ramírez:

Completed his undergraduate in the Escuela de Música de la Universidad Juan N. Corpas in Bogotá, where he studied with the master, Fabio Santana. Won the Award “Jóvenes Talentos” in the Alianza Colombo-Francesa (2009), of the Convocatoria de Jóvenes Talentos del Auditorio Fabio Lozano (2009 and 2011), and of the Serie de Jóvenes Intérpretes del Banco República (2011).

Completed his masters violin interpretation and the “Performer Diploma”; in the Universidad de Indiana under the guidance of Simin Ganatra.  Presently, he is a teacher in the Music Department in the Universidad del Norte.

Oscar Armando Benavides Delgado:

Graduated from the program of Instrumental Music from the Universidad del Cauca and a Diploma in interpretation in Low Trombone from the  Royal School of Music.

Presently he is a Academic Coordinator in the Red de escuelas of musical training and as Artistical Director of Festival Internacional de Trombón de Pasto.

Cesar Augusto Sierra Baldovino:

Licensed in Music with an emphasis in orchestral direction and chorus from the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional de Colombia-headquarter in Bogotá, received the award for the highest grade for graduate thesis for his Ethnomusicology work about the Millet Flute, original aerophone of the north Colombian coast. He’s participated in directional orchestra workshops guaranteed by the Ministerio de Cultura that highlight the  years 2010 and 2011 made by Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá under the direction of Master Lior Shambadal and the Orquesta Sinfónica under the baton of Master Baldur Brönnimann. During the years of university training, he traveled between semesters to take classes in Caracas with the master Rodolfo Sanglimbeni title director of the Orquesta Sinfónica Municipal de Caracas.

Laureano Quant:

Student of composition and song of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, winner of the  Jóvenes Intérpretes 2018 series del Banco de la República.

Winner of second place in the juvenil subcategory of the Premio Nacional de Canto de la Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá in 2016.


María Isabel Yánez:

Undergraduate music student of the Universidad EAFIT with the Master  Eliana Piedrahita, scholarship for the program of pilo paga, presently is part of various musical activities in the city of Medellín, additionally is part of the vocal  Ensemble Macondo under the direction of Master Juan D. Osorio.


Juan Camilo Acuña Díaz.

Colombian baritone born in Bogotá. Presently his professional studies in Lyrical Singing in the Universidad Central, there he studies with masters Sara Cataríne ( Soprano) and Alejandro Roca (pianist and director). Integrated in the Coro Filarmónica Juvenil de la Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá and has been soloist in various musical formats like recitals, oratories and  opera.


Yeraldin León Acosta

Mezzosoprano of 22 years, is finishing her studies in the Universidad Central with the Master Camila Toro. Recently interpreted El Gato con Botas of Xavier Montsalvage in the Teatro Colón of Bogotá and gained second place in Categoría Juvenil del Premio Nacional de Canto. Is part of the Coro Filarmónica Juvenil de la Orquesta Filarmónica de Bogotá.


Francoise Melissa Berdugo Lattke

Soprano. Presently finishing his undergraduate in the Universidad Nacional de Colombia under the direction of Master Ángela Simbaqueba. During 2017, winner of soloists contest of the Orquesta Sinfónica del conservatorio de música (UNAL) and finalist of the National contest of song “Premio Cuidad de Bogotá”.



Jaime Alberto Ramirez Fajardo
Born in Pasto, started his musical studies in the Music school “tayka” and later in the red de escuelas of music training  in Pasto. Winner of the Convocatoria de Jóvenes del banco de la República, scholarship student of the international festival of Music in Cartagena and member of the Filarmónica Joven de Colombia. Presently is studying the Clarinet in the Universidad del Cauca.

Kevin David Motta Sánchez:
Clarinetist born in the city of Ibague, winner of several contests at national level where he has won first place in the national Clarinet contest clariBogotá in 2013, presently studying music in the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and performs as a concertmaster in the Sinfónica De Guasca-Chndinamarca band.

Harold Daniel Montes Giraldo:
Started his musical studies in the Music school “Comarca” of Apía, Risaralda; member of the band Municipal de Manizales and of the group Ensamble Pa’l Viento, winner of the Grand Award of excellence in Aguadas, Caldas. Presently studying Clarinet with Masters Hernán Daría Gutierrez, Freddy Mauricio Pinzón and Jairo Cifuentes.


French Horn:


Brayan París:

Started his studies of the horn in 2005 under the tutorial of Juliana Guevara and Florentino Sierra. Was an alumni of the Universidad de Antioquia,

O. S. J. Red de Escuelas de Medellín and the FJC.

Miller Anthony Muñoz Pachón:
Started his musical studies in 2006 in the school of artistic training and culture of the municipality of Sibaté. In 2013 was part of the band Sinfónica Juvenil of Colombia. In 2014, he started his undergraduate studies of the French Horn in the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. In 2015 he participated as a scholarship student in the IX Festival Internacional de Música de Cartagena. Was a participant of the 1st Contest and the international festival CORNOMBIA founded in September 2015.




Cristian Camilo Álvarez:
In 2010 he entered the Red de escuelas de Música de Medellín. In 2012 he started his Flute studies in the Universidad de Antioquia in the chair of Master Hugo Espinosa, presently he is taking the last semesters under the tutorial of Master Elizabeth Osorio. In 2016 he did an exchange program in the Conversatorio Real de Mons in Belgium.


Natalia Molina Bohórquez:

In 2017 received the title Master in Music with an emphasis of Flute Interpretation  in the Universidad Javeriana under the direction of Master Rafael Rodríguez. Has a trajectory as a musician in the band and orchestra, has been characterized for exploring the contemporary repertoire of her music, expanding the improvisation and creation.


Yudi Alejandra Marín:
Started studying in the Red de escuelas de Música de Medellín; in 2014 started his undergraduate in Flute in the Universidad de Antioquia and presently is taking the last course under the tutorial the Master Elizabeth Osorio. Is a member of Iberacademy and the band Sinfónica de la Universidad de Antioquia.




Miguel Ángel Rubiano:
Born in Bogotá. Started his musical training in the Fundación Nacional Batuta and presently finished undergraduate studies in the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana. Oboist of the band Filarmónica Juvenil of Bogotá.


Hover Fernando Moreno:
Started his advanced studies in Music under the tutorial of Dc. Javier Ocampo. Later with an instrumental focus different from his career and since 2014 is part of the Oboe chair directed by the master of Jhon Eduard Lozano in the Instituto Departamental de Bellas Artes Cali.


Julian Manjarres:

Presently finishing her professional career as an oboist in the  Universidad Nacional de Colombia, is the main oboist in the Orquesta Filarmónica Juvenil de Bogotá, has participated in diverse festivals and oboist meetings, has also been a member of the Orquesta Filarmónica Joven de Colombia.




Julian Avendaño:
Started his musical studies in the school  Centro don Bosco where he is an Award winner in the Festival Artístico Salesiano. Later entered the Conservatory of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia under the tutorial of Master Juan Pablo Luna y presently advances in her undergraduate studies in the Master chair of Mac McClure.


Sofía Bustamante Jaramillo:
Born in Medellín in 1997. Started her studies with the pianist Sandra Perez. In 2014 she won a contest “Jóvenes Talentos Diners Club”. Presently studying her second semester un the Universidad de Antioquia under the tutorial of Master Teresita Gómez. In the month of December she will participate in the IV Concurso Internacional de Piano “Federico Chopin” Lima – Peru.


Laura Benavides
Cali Pianist winner of the contest Jóvenes Intérpretes del Banco de la República (BLAA) 2014, Scholarship winner in 2014 of the Festival Internacional de Música de Cartagena.

She has participated in distinct settings at the national level as a soloist in the Ensambles de música de cámara.


Jose Manuel Zapata Gil:
Finished his undergraduate at the Universidad de Antioquia with the Master Ana María Orduz. Won first place in the Festival pianissimo 2016 and in the contest young soloist in the Universidad de Antioquia 2016, was selected to participate in the Festival de Música de Cartagena and in the Piano Festival of the Americas (EE. UU).


Andrés Felipe Úsuga:
His first notions of Music came from his father. Presently studying his 7th semester in the Universidad de Antioquia under the tutorial of Master Ana María Orduz. Participated as a scholarship winner in the 10th festival internacional de música de Cartagena and in the Piano Festival of the Americas (USA).




Alejandro Jaramillo

Started his musical studies in 2010 in the red de escuelas of music where he started his studies with Master Adolfo León Martínez, he participated in different festivals and groups at a national and international level such as: the  band  Juvenil de Colombia 2013, Festicamarca 2014, the program side by side where he had two opportunities to be one week in the  city of Miami making music alongside the New World Symphony in 2016 and in 2017 he was a participant in Festival and contest Projecto bone in Brasil where he made it to the semifinals in the contest.


Carlos Eduardo Patiño Gómez
Started his musical training at 9 years of age being part of the band of the municipios de Caucasia y Rionegro Antioquia. Presently is a member of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Antioquia and is a music student in the Universidad de Antioquia under the direction of Master Miguel Ángel López and David Arboleda.


Juan Esteban Rúa Tobón
Started music school in the municipality of Barbosa, Antioquia at 7 years of age. In 2014 he entered in the Orquesta Sinfónica de Antioquia and started his university studies. Presently studying his 8th semester and formed part of the Orquesta Sinfónica de la Universidad de Antioquia.




Daniel Alberto Moreno:
Trumpeter/Composer/arranger. His musical  trajectory started in the Music school of Apía. Winner of composition awards for band and orchestra and of the Música Colombiana with the group “Ensamble Pa’l Viento”. Member of the FJC (2017) and the Banda Municipal de Manizales (2014-). Presently his professors are Juan Carlos Valencia and Oscar Fernando Trujillo.

Clases Magistrales es un programa de carácter anual que se desarrolla en el marco del Cartagena Festival internacional de Música. Esta iniciativa pretende aportar al fortalecimiento de los procesos educativos musicales de Colombia. Brinda a estudiantes y profesores de música del país, sin ningún costo, la oportunidad de complementar su formación a partir de sesiones en formato de clase magistral, bajo la instrucción de algunos de los músicos y directores internacionales invitados al #CartagenaFest en cada una de sus ediciones.


El programa permite a los asistentes, estudiantes y profesores, vivir de manera integral la experiencia que les ofrece el Festival, que además de las clases, contempla beneficios como entradas a conversatorios, conciertos, talleres, conferencias y la posibilidad de tener contacto directo con los artistas internacionales invitados.
