As is tradition, the festival's opening concert serves as a manifesto for the entire program. The concert presents some significant works by the most important Spanish composers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, alongside compositions by non-Spanish composers that evoke and recall certain characteristics of traditional Spanish culture, such as Bizet's Carmen.
