At the end of the 19th century, various factors influenced the growth of chamber music in Spain, both in terms of concert sessions and original creation. The existence of a new generation of virtuosos on the violin, piano, and cello fueled the interest in such soirées.

Turina's masterpiece is undoubtedly ‘Círculo’ Piano Trio, which, completed on the eve of the Spanish Civil War. Conceived abstractly, it represents the progress of the day from the first hesitant signs of morning to a slow descent into the tranquility of the afternoon, passing through the energetic movement of midday, with swirling brushstrokes of Spanish color in its most dramatic form.
