Russian-born flautist Denis Bouriakov is internationally recognised as one of the most distinguished flautists of his generation. Celebrated for his extraordinary virtuosity, refined musicianship and expressive artistry, he has enjoyed a remarkable career as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral principal on some of the world’s most prestigious stages.
Born in St Petersburg, Bouriakov studied at the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory before continuing his musical education in Europe and the United States. His exceptional talent led him to hold principal flute positions with leading orchestras, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra in New York and the Bavarian State Opera Orchestra in Munich, collaborating with conductors such as Gustavo Dudamel, Riccardo Muti, Zubin Mehta, Valery Gergiev, Sir Simon Rattle and Esa-Pekka Salonen.
Alongside his orchestral career, Bouriakov appears regularly as a concerto soloist and recitalist throughout Europe, Asia and the Americas. He has performed at major international festivals and in renowned concert halls, earning widespread acclaim for the brilliance of his technique, the richness of his tone and the elegance of his musical interpretation.
A passionate advocate for chamber music, he has collaborated with many of today’s leading instrumentalists and ensembles, exploring a repertoire that ranges from the Classical masters to contemporary works. His recordings and masterclasses have further established him as one of the leading ambassadors of the modern flute.
Deeply committed to education, Bouriakov is regularly invited to teach at leading conservatories, festivals and international academies, where he inspires a new generation of flautists through his artistic insight and technical expertise.
