Il Volo is one of the world’s most successful crossover vocal ensembles, internationally acclaimed for bringing together the expressive tradition of Italian opera with the accessibility of contemporary popular music. Comprising Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble, the trio has become a global ambassador of the Italian vocal tradition, captivating audiences across five continents with extraordinary vocal artistry and charismatic stage presence.
Formed in 2010, Il Volo quickly achieved international recognition after becoming the first Italian artists to sign with Geffen Records, one of the most influential American record labels. Their self-titled debut album achieved Platinum certification and entered the Billboard Top Ten in the United States, launching an international career that has since sold millions of albums worldwide.
The trio has appeared at many of the world’s most prestigious venues, including Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Garden, the Hollywood Bowl, the Arena di Verona, the Teatro alla Scala, the Teatro Antico di Taormina, and before an audience of more than one million people during World Youth Day in Panama.
International television audiences have embraced Il Volo through performances on programmes such as The Tonight Show, American Idol, Good Morning America and Today, while their collaborations have included legendary artists such as Plácido Domingo, Barbra Streisand, Eros Ramazzotti and Quincy Jones.
In 2015 the trio won the Festival di Sanremo with the song Grande Amore, one of the defining successes of contemporary Italian popular music, before representing Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest, where they won the public vote and received the prestigious Marcel Bezençon Press Award. Their recordings have consistently topped international classical crossover and popular music charts, earning multiple Platinum certifications and two Latin Grammy Award nominations.
