Biography

Federico Eligio is one of the most versatile guitarists and producers on the Colombian music scene today. Trained from the age of four and holding a Master’s degree in Music from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, he has built a career in which the technical rigor of classical guitar naturally engages with jazz, folk music and pop, shaping an interpretive language of remarkable sensitivity and stylistic breadth.

Recognized for his talent from an early age, he won the Jóvenes Intérpretes competition at the age of eleven, a distinction that foreshadowed a career defined by versatility and technical excellence. His artistic path has led him to perform alongside a wide range of artists at national and international festivals and concert venues, while also participating in large-scale productions with the Ópera de Colombia and the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra.

He has appeared at leading Colombian venues including the Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo, the Luis Ángel Arango Library, and the León de Greiff Auditorium, where he has demonstrated an exceptional ability to move fluently between diverse musical styles and performance settings.

Alongside his performing career, he is the founder and director of the record label La 53 Records and teaches at School of Rock, combining artistic creation, music production and the training of new generations of musicians.

At the XXI Cartagena Music Festival, Federico Eligio brings the technical mastery and stylistic versatility of contemporary Colombian guitar, building a bridge between the classical tradition, jazz and the country’s popular roots, while enriching the Festival’s artistic programme with a perspective deeply rooted in Colombia’s vibrant musical landscape.
