Biography

The Filarmónica Joven de Colombia (Colombian Youth Philharmonic) is a social innovation lab created by the Bolívar Davivienda Foundation in 2010. With the purpose of promoting the life project in music of Colombian children and young people, #LaJoven, as known by its followers, has designed a strategic intervention model that seeks to inspire the future of careers in symphonic music, with a firm focus on the holistic development of talent in each of its participants, giving them training in music excellence, music education and cultural outreach, entrepreneurship in music and innovation. 

The Filarmónica Joven de Colombia also works to  strengthen various initiatives of symphonic music education in the country, in a commitment to the musical and social development of the country, through a wide network of national and international partners. Through a volunteering initiative, the orchestra players engage to support  a musical, technical and social program for orchestral and musical projects in formation around the country to develop skills in children. 

Each season of the Filarmónica Joven de Colombia is made up of young musicians between 16 and 24 years old from all over the country, selected by a rigorous audition process with an international jury with high artistic projection standards. The orchestra has made more than 25 national and international tours, inviting more than 50 world-renowned conductors and soloists in Europe and the Americas, in 58 cities.
