Biography
Giovanni Bietti is one of Italy’s leading musicologists, lecturers and music communicators, widely admired for his exceptional ability to illuminate the masterpieces of the classical repertoire with intellectual depth, clarity and engaging insight. A distinguished pianist by training, he has devoted much of his career to making music history, analysis and listening accessible to broad audiences without compromising scholarly rigour.
A regular guest at Italy’s foremost concert institutions and festivals, Bietti has collaborated with organisations including the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the Teatro alla Scala, the Teatro La Fenice, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Ravenna Festival, the MITO SettembreMusica Festival, the Rossini Opera Festival and the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto. His pre-concert lectures and public conversations have become a hallmark of Italy’s musical life, offering audiences new perspectives on composers, works and historical contexts.
Alongside his activity as a lecturer, Bietti is the author of numerous essays and books devoted to the great composers of the Western tradition, with particular emphasis on Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Mahler and the Italian operatic repertoire. His work as a broadcaster for RAI Radio 3 has further established him as one of Italy’s most respected voices in music education and cultural dissemination.
