Biography

Cuban conductor, composer and organist Yudania Gómez Heredia represents a new generation of Latin American musicians whose artistic versatility allows them to move effortlessly between symphonic conducting, contemporary composition and opera. Her international career reflects outstanding musical training, an open artistic vision and a strong commitment to today’s repertoire.

After studying at Cuba’s National School of Arts and the Higher Institute of Arts in Havana, she continued her education in Germany, earning Master’s degrees in both Choral Conducting and Orchestral Conducting from the Nuremberg University of Music. Her achievements have been recognized with major distinctions, including First Prize at the Krikor Zetinyan International Choral Conducting Competition and the 2023 DAAD Prize.

During the 2024–2025 season she was awarded a conducting fellowship with the Bergische Symphony Orchestra Academy and became a member of the Chineke! Orchestra Assistant Conductors Programme, where she assisted Jonathon Heyward at the 2025 BBC Proms. She has conducted productions including Mid(Summer)night Dreams at the Nuremberg State Theatre, Bovary at the Gostner Hoftheater, and Purcell’s The Fairy Queen at the Stuttgart State Opera, while also appearing with ensembles such as the Mitteldeutsche Kammerphilharmonie, Ensemble Reflektor, the Chineke! Junior Orchestra, and symphony orchestras across Europe and Latin America.

She currently conducts Rosalía’s Lux Tour with the Heritage Orchestra and has been selected for the prestigious Taki Alsop Fellowship 2027, the international mentoring programme for women conductors founded by Marin Alsop.

As part of the Gabriel García Márquez Series at the XXI Cartagena Music Festival, Yudania Gómez brings the broad artistic vision of a musician who builds bridges between the symphonic tradition and contemporary musical creation, connecting Latin America with today’s international musical landscape.
