It is almost a prelude to the general program of the Cartagena Festival’s 17th edition. The concert will present a synthesis of the different trends that asserted themselves in Eastern Europe in the 19th century. Pieces by M. Glinka, the first composer to whom musical historiography attributes the birth of Russian national music; by B. Bartok, a famous composer of Hungarian music; by A. Dvorak, P. I. Tchaikovsky and F. Chopin will be performed. All these are composers who, in different ways, made a contribution to the national music of their countries and who have had a leading role in the history of 19th century music.
