Sibelius' music celebrates the eternity of nature in which the cycles of the seasons are renewed again and again, despite any historical drama. Messenger of the end of time, unprecedented seer, he isolated himself among lakes and forests. In the thirty years of his renunciation of composing, he found the way to a silence that his music, perhaps, evoked from the beginning: a saving return to nature, to a benign divinity.
